Personalization of each over letter is the best way to land a more job interviews. So, always try for it. Then what about generic cover letters? Never go for generic cover letter. It's a big mistake!
If there were a generic cover letter that was surely worked every time, then it's a prepared meal for all the applicants. Only with changing name and address, this letter could go out to each prospective employer and be sure to meet a job interview opportunity.
But bad luck!!!!!!!!! Such a generic cover letter does not exist. No one can generate such a generic cover letter and most important thing is these type of cover letters always fails to reach your desired goal. So be careful while writing a cover letter.
The fact is : Whenever an employer gives an advertisement in the newspaper or on the internet/company website, they always swamped with both the cover letters and resumes.
A generic cover letters are non-specific, over-used letters. They never going to sparkle or shine your letter. It never helps to demonstrate why you are the ideal candidate for company or how you will contribute to the employer's goals.

Give details about what you can do to meet company's goal, what will be your contribution. Tell about your qualification. Mention your unique key points and experience you have. Describe about your interest in company.
Paragraph Three: (optional)
If you have any extra and important attributes then explain them here.
Paragraph Four:
This is closing paragraph. Here you should ask/request for an interview. Include your contact address with phone number or mobile number. Thanks them for giving timeto read your letter.
