The cat and the blue bowl 貓和藍色的碗
A man was1 looking for things of the old times. One day he came2 to a village and found3a blue bowl. It looked very old. The bowl was on the ground4 and a cat was drinking milk from it. A farmer, the owner5 of the cat, was sitting beside the bowl. The man did6 not want the farmer to know that he was interested7 in the bowl. So he said8 to him in a soft voice9, "What a nice cat you have! Will you sell it to me?"
"How much will you give me for the cat?" the farmer asked.
"Thirty dollars. Would10 that be enough?" Later11, the farmer agreed12. After hepaid13 the farmer, the man said, "This cat is used14 to eating with his bowl. May I take this bowl with the cat?" But the farmer said, "I'm sorry I can't give you the bowl. Thanks to the bowl, I have sold15 thirty cats."
一個男人喜歡尋找古董，一天，他來到一個小村莊，發現一個藍色的碗。它看上去很舊。這個碗在地上，貓用它喝著牛奶，旁邊坐著一個農夫，是這只貓的主人。這個人不想讓農夫知道他對這只碗很有興趣。于是他低聲對他說，“你的貓真漂亮，能賣給我嗎?
“你準備給花多少錢買這只貓?”這個農夫問。
“三十美元。這樣夠了嗎?農夫答應。他把錢給了農夫，那人說，“這個貓是用這只碗吃食物吧。我可以把這碗也帶走嗎?“但農夫說，“非常抱歉，我不能給你的`碗。感謝謝這只碗，因為它我已經賣了三十只貓。”
The Third Operation 第三次手術
The patient was recovering after an operation. His friend came to visit him and asked how he was getting along.
"Well," the patient began, "after my first operation they had to cut me open again. The doctor had to take out the sponge1 left in me." "But you got over it all right?"
"Oh, yes. Only I had another operation yesterday. They found that they had operated on the wrong part."
"Thank God. You're all right now, though," the friend said encouragingly.
At that time the doctor came in saying, "Has anyone seen my hat around here? I left it somewhere yesterday."
一位病人做完一個手術回到病房，他的朋友來看望他并問他感覺怎么樣。
“哎，”這位病人說，“第一次手術后他們又給我開了一刀，因為醫生要取出忘在我體內的紗布.”“但是你挺過來了?”
“噢，是的，只是他們昨天又給我開了一刀，因為他們發現開刀開錯了地方。”
“感謝上帝，你現在總算沒事了 。”朋友安慰他說。
正在這時醫生進來說：“誰在這兒看見我的帽子了?我昨天把它忘在什么地方了。”
