Listen to the tape then answer this question.What are the Johnsons going to do at the weekend?

MRS JOHNSON: Hullo, Mrs Williams. Were you at the butcher's?
約翰遜夫人：您好。剛才您在肉店里嗎?
MRS WILLIAMS: Yes. I was. Were you at the butcher’s ,too?
威廉斯夫人：是的，我在肉店里。您也在肉店里嗎?
MRS JOHNSON: No, I wasn’t. I was at the greengrocer’s. How’s Jimmy today?

MRS WILLIAMS: He’s very well, thank you.

MRS JOHNSON: Was he absent from school last week?

Notes on the text課文注釋
1 在英文表示某一種商店的短語(yǔ)中，往往可以把shop這個(gè)詞省略，如課文中的the butcher's (shop)和the greengrocer's (shop)。類似的例子還有the hairdresser's (shop), the stationer's (shop), the doctor's(office), my mother's (house)等。
2 在英文中，過(guò)去發(fā)生的而現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)結(jié)束的動(dòng)作要用一般過(guò)去時(shí)來(lái)表示。“是”(be)動(dòng)詞的.過(guò)去式不規(guī)則‘第一、第三人稱單數(shù)用was，其他情況用were。
3 How are you all keeping?
這是一句問(wèn)候?qū)Ψ缴眢w如何的話。
4 for the weekend是指整個(gè)周末這幾天的時(shí)間，而at the weekend是強(qiáng)調(diào)時(shí)間的某一點(diǎn)。
5 Aren't you lucky!
這句話是否定疑問(wèn)句形式的感嘆句，為的是加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣。盡管形式上是否定的，但卻表示強(qiáng)有力的肯定。

1. Were you at the butcher's?剛才您在肉店里嗎?
at the butcher' s=at the butcher' s shop。在英文中，表示店鋪、住宅、公共機(jī)構(gòu)、公共建筑物以及教堂的名字或某人家時(shí)，名詞所有格后常不出現(xiàn)它所修飾的名詞:

the hairdresser' s ( shop)理發(fā)店

一般過(guò)去時(shí)(1)
be( am/is/are)的過(guò)去式是was/were:

在英文中，過(guò)去發(fā)生的而現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)結(jié)束的動(dòng)作要用一般過(guò)去時(shí)來(lái)表示。be動(dòng)詞的過(guò)去式不規(guī)則，第1人稱與第3人稱單數(shù)用was，其他情況用were。
用be動(dòng)詞的一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)形式的一般疑問(wèn)句及特殊疑問(wèn)句迄今已介紹過(guò)，其過(guò)去時(shí)形式也一樣，只是動(dòng)詞be在形式上變?yōu)閣as或were。請(qǐng)看以下例句:
Was Mrs.Johnson at the butcher’s?
約翰遜夫人在肉店嗎?
No,sha wasn’t.
她不在。
Were you at school or at church ou January 1st ?
1月1號(hào)你在學(xué)校還是上教堂了?
I wasn't at school on January 1 st .I was at church.
我1月1號(hào)沒上學(xué)。我上教堂做禮拜了。
When was he absent from school ?
他何時(shí)缺課了?
He was absent on Monday，Tuesday，Wednesday and Thursday .
他周一、周二、周三和周四缺課了。
Where were you on Sunday ?

I was at church on Sunday.

1. spend v.
(1)花(時(shí)間等);度過(guò):

(3) adj. 鄉(xiāng)下的;鄉(xiāng)村風(fēng)味的:
